Under-14 League: Caulry 7-8 Mullingar Shamrocks 6-7
Time denied our under-14 footballers in Springfield on Monday night as a brilliant comeback from a substantial half-time deficit fell just 0-4 short. Fortunately, the match ended before the weather became cold, wet and miserable as the young players of both teams played some really good football with former Clare senior hurling star and All-Ireland hurling medal winner Ollie Baker keeping a watching brief from the sideline as a Caulry mentor. The swithc of Daragh Hughes to full-forward was instrumental in sparking the second-half revivial. Daragh scored four goals including a back-heel from the Luis Suarez play-book that made an improbable win a possibility.
Matthew Clinton was chosen as the Mullingar Shamrocks player of the match and went home with the Subway Meal Voucher as a reward for his efforts.
