Best of Luck, Lauren ..
Last Thursday's match in the Village Barn Senior LGF championship against The Downs GAA Club was the last game (for the time being at least, we hope) for our goalkeeper Lauren McCormack. Lauren has given wonderful service to Mullingar Shamrocks over the years in the difficult and demanding specialist position. Lauren was always comfortable in the position dealing with the basics as a formality and inspiring with her shop stopping ability.
Her excellence was recognised by the WestmeathLadies Gaa management for the first time in March 2019 when she lined out for the county in Letterkenny against Donegal. The following day Lauren was out in Milltown guarding the net for Mullingar Shamrocks against the home team. Lauren's ever-present contribution to Westmeath since that time was recognised in 2024 when she was appointed captain for the season.
And of course Lauren was goalkeeper when Westmeath won the All-Ireland title defeating Wexford in Croke Park in 2021 and when Mullingar Shamrocks won the last adult title v Coralstown-Kinnegad in the intermediate grade.
Lauren departs for Perth on Thursday to continue her medical career and it goes without saying we wish Lauren the best.
