Under-12 Football League: Mullingar Shamrocks 0-9 St Loman’s 2-9
Under-11: Mullingar Shamrocks 2-6 St Loman’s 0-5
It was a victory each in Lakepoint Park on Tuesday evening as Mullingar Shamrocks and St Loman’s came together for the under-12 league competition and the customary friendly match between the younger players of both clubs.
St Lomans collected the league points after overturning a half-time deficit of 0-6 to 0-4. Shamrocks were wind-assisted in the first-half and John Ryan, who covered every inch of the 3G ‘grass’, scored 0-4 after Ryan Kelly, who was the play-maker in chief at this stage scored the opening point. A great save by the St Loman’s goalkeeper denied Gavin Pierce and Shane Ormsby pointed the resultant 45.
William O’Reilly and Eoin Doran exchanged positions at the interval as usual and William was immediately in action and made the first of three-great second-half saves. Lomans dominated the second half and succeeded in closing down Shamrocks key players. Shane Ormsby responded with two fine points and John Ryan ended the scoring for Shamrocks. A last-kick goal for St Lomans secured the league points after a good save by the St Loman’s goalkeeper denied the final Shamrocks attack.
