Under-16 Football League: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-9 St Loman’s 2-9

In a well contested under-16 football league match played in Springfield on Sunday evening St Loman’s just got the better of Mullingar Shamrocks. After trailing at half-time (1-5 to 0-6) Shamrocks responded in the second-half and a brilliant Trevor Keena goal levelled matters after 15 minutes. However, a mix-up in the Shamrocks defence in the final minutes gifted St Loman’s a second goal and inspired by a superb display by the former Devlin player Enda Gaffney, St Loman’s secured the league points. This Shamrocks team continues to show improvement and great defending by the full-back line of Rory O’Sullivan Sexton, Emmet Walsh and William Adzangoa was a feature of the match as was the ball winning capabilities of full-forward Ronan McHugh and the all-round displays of Jack Gillen and Trevor Keena.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Keith Whaley; Rory O’Sullivan Sexton, Emmet Walsh, William Adzangoa; Niall Ouchbakou, Eoin Kilduff, John O’Reilly; Jack Gillen (0-4) and Cian Fox; Andrew Shaw (Daniel Chukwuemekg), Trevor Keena (1-4), Brian Farrell; Sean Óg Hynes, Ronan McHugh (0-1), Zach Aherne (Peter Hynes).
