ACL Div.1 Mullingar Shamrocks 1-4 Rosemount 0-12
An understrength Mullingar Shamrocks took the field against Rosemount on Friday evening and after 15 minutes the resources were further diminished with the loss through injuries of Keith Moore, Donal O’Donoghue and Alan Cashman. Rosemount dominated the first half and led by 0-5 to 0-1 as half-time approached. The intervention of the O’Reilly brothers enabled Shamrocks to draw level at the interval. Kenneth was on hand to goal from a great Shamrocks move that split the Rosemount defence. Brendan O’Reilly won possession from Philly Shaw’s kick-out, and combined with Dylan McDermott and Simon Quinn to create the goal scoring opportunity. Brendan O’Reilly added a point and tied the match (1-2 to 0-5). Sean Petit and Dylan McDermott exchanged points after the interval. A big tackle by Niall Hannigan began the move which led to McDermott’s point. Simon Quinn (Shamrocks best player on the night) edged Shamrocks ahead with a point (1-4 to 0-6) when he finished a move that he initiated with a fine mark from Philly’s kick-out. Unfortunately, that was it for the night as Sean Petit added several points to the Rosemount total to secure a relatively comfortable victory for his team.
