Under-16 Football League: Mullingar Shamrocks 5-14 Shandonagh 1-4

Mullingar Shamrocks under-16s got back on the winning trail on Monday night in Springfield with a comprehensive victory over Shandonagh. Goals by Trevor Keena and Zach Aherne helped Shamrocks to a 2-7 to 0-2 interval lead and second half goals by Keena, Peter Hynes and John O’Reilly secured the victory for the Shamrocks boys in what was a very good team performance.

Under-16 Ladies’ Football League: Caulry 7-11 Mullingar Shamrocks 1-8

The Under-16 girls played Caulry on Monday night in their final group game of the league at Castledaly. It wasn't a good evening for the girls as they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season to date. Caulry made a quick start getting 2 early goals putting the Shamrocks girls under pressure from the outset. As often happens in under-age games, early scores make life difficult and the Shamrocks girls struggled to put any good sequences of play together in the first half. The second half saw an improved performance from the team but unfortunately there was too big a deficit to make up. Final score 7-11 to 1-8.
