St Jude's Day in Springfield.
Our friends from St Jude’s travelled in style to Springfield today with a bus load of sixty footballers eager to try their skills in a Westmeath setting; our ladies' ladies section rose to the challenge in style and marshalled footballers equal in number and quality to the Dublin girls. Denis Corroon was there to welcome the Dublin girls to Springfield, mountains of food was available to cater for all, proud mammies and daddies were there to support their young footballers, plenty of help was available to manage and organise the afternoon's fun. The football wasn’t bad either. Well done to all involved. Chairman Pearse Corroon perfectly captured the spirit of the day when he offered his words of thanks ‘ to all that made Mullingar Shamrocks a very special place today, to see all our young girl members playing our games and parents providing food for all … a fantastic day for our club and the GAA, well done to St Jude's and Mullingar Shamrocks’. The day ended with a nice gesture from the St Jude’s people who presented our officers with two of their club jerseys which were raffled amongst all the Shamrocks girls who played on the day; the jerseys were won by the sisters Kala and Ella Moore.
