ACL Div. 5: Tubberclair 4-13 Mullingar Shamrocks 0-16
We are becoming specialists at handing Tubberclair a substantial lead when we play them in various competitions. On Tuesday night under lights we conceded often and early and in less than 15 minutes we trailed by 4-4 to 0-2 before recovering somewhat to slightly reduce the half-time deficit (4-7 to 0-7). After the terrible ten opening minutes, the performance was decent and a few good goal chances were created but spurned. Ross Corroon crashed a penalty off the crossbar after the veteran Gary was fouled.
Shamrocks travelled to the south Westmeath venue with 15 players and when Adam McCormack retired early in the second half we were without a replacement. The moral of this story is that there is plenty of football for everyone in Mullingar Shamrocks anxious to play. So answer Gary’s call. So in overall terms a respectable performance.
