Hard luck to team manager Carole Finch, player Melek Fagan (a great block towards the end of normal time to prevent a Kildare winner) and panelist Michelle Morris; Westmeath were very unlucky to lose to Kildare in the Leinster Minor semi-final in Lakepoint Park in what was a superb game of football on a score line of 5-13 to 5-10, the Kildare winning goal coming with their last attack in extra time. The Kildare girls had staged a superb comeback in normal time after being six points down 15 minutes into the second half and finished the stronger to qualify for the Leinster final.
