Under-14 Football League: Mullingar Shamrocks 2-3 St Lomans 3-17
It’s not going to be easy this year for our under-14 team dominated by thirteen-year-olds but the learning experience will be invaluable. On this occasion the physically stronger St Loman’s driven forward by an excellent Ethan Browne were far too good for the young Mullingar Shamrocks team who to their credit never stopped trying for the duration. St Loman’s with the advantage of the wind built up a 1-9 to 0-0 interval lead and indeed it could have been far more but for some great defending by the Shamrocks lads and some poor finishing by the St Loman’s boys. An Oliver MacNamara point and a goal by Mark Shaw immediately after the interval raised hopes of a comeback but it wasn’t to be and it was St Loman’s night.
