Andrina’s Brilliant Arts and Crafts
Andrina’s Art and Crafts session on Saturday evening was a brilliant success as might be expected. The boys and girls painted a Christmas wreath and decorated it with all sorts of everything Andrina splashed out and went a bit crazy recently in Michael's Arts and Crafts Shop in New York City). They decorated a gingerbread person and made 2 Christmas cards, one for home and one for Andrina to bring to the Garda Station ... the police did a call out for children to make cards for the residents of local Nursing homes which Mullingar Shamrocks children duly obliged.
And, then came the real highlight: the children were shown how to do a silk screen print. There was a little sketching tutorial on how to draw the man in red, and his trusted reindeer Rudolph.
There was white boards that were treated to abstract art and then at the end each child got a little gift of a free art class in January or February at Splat Art.
There was a few children missing due to being at a slime party in Andrina’s class before the Springfield and there will be more art activities coming during the Easter break as it is planned to incorporate some art into the Easter Camp.
We are so lucky to have wonderful people like Andrina prepared to volunteer her services and talents to the club. Her helpers for the evening fall into the same category, Karen, Sophie and Margaret. We had great help also from Síle Tunney (on loan from up the road for the evening!).
