The Last Word on the Quid Game …

Well the event was a spectacular success for the Westmeathgaaofficial County Committee; Shandonagh GAA Club will be happy too as Gareth Carr mastered the various challenges better than anyone else did and secured the €10,000 prize for his club.

Mullingar Shamrocks set the example for the clubs of the county and we owe Dean O Mordha a big thanks for the manner in which he represented the club. His social media content was second to none so we have a potential new recruit to our PR team. Thanks once again to Dean’s sponsors and all those who contributed to the fund and earned over €4,000 for Shamrocks in the process. Dean with €10, 070 was the leading fundraiser.

County Committee Chairperson, Frank Mescall departed from his prepared script to acknowledge Dean’s work and concluded his welcoming address by “doing two unscripted things’ as it hadn’t been considered to make any special presentations or acknowledgements but “we have to acknowledge the contribution of one Dean Moore and the effort he put in. I was getting worried on Friday that it would turn in to a real battle between Mullingar Shamrocks and Ballynacargy and I thought that there would be no money left for Christmas in Mullingar or Ballynacargy because Aisling Penrose ran Dean so close”. Dean was presented with a “little token” to acknowledge his efforts, which contributed so handsomely to the fund. Conor Moore, guest presenter on the night, was also similarly recognised with a token of appreciation: “We couldn’t believe our luck when Conor said he would do it (present the show)”, Frank stated. Thanks to the professionalism, efficiency and good humour of Conor, the contestants were seamlessly guided through the various game segments that constituted the show.

As a leading money earner, Dean joined the competition at the Tower of Tension stage, and despite the tradition of the extended Moore family in the building game, Dean’s tower wobbled a bit and collapsed and ended Dean’s competition.

There were no second chances for the Quid Game's leading money earner.
