The Late Lily Daly ...

The members of the Mullingar Shamrocks GAA Club offer sincere sympathy to the Daly family on the death of Lily. In particular we offer sympathy to her sons Aidan, Seán, Kevin and Joe, daughters Geraldine (Darby), Mary (Gallagher), Bernie (Murray), Trisha (Smartt), Paula (Curran), Sandy and Michelle (Pidgeon) to her brothers Christy and Thomas Corroon and to her sisters Peggy and Helen. Sympathy is also extended to Lily's extended family of sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grand-children, great grand-children, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours.

The contribution of the Daly family to the Mullingar Shamrocks Club has been immense. Aidan, Seán, Kevin and Joe have all worn the club colours with distinction; Kevin was a key player in the breakthrough years of 1986 and 1987 and was there again in 1994; Seán was a panellist in 1987 and Joe lined out at under-age level. Aidan has been a key man in the club since he returned to Mullingar and has served the club in many ways as a player, administrator and in doing any jobs that need doing and was most recently to be seen as Joey the Lips in our show The Sound of the Musicals. Geraldine has represented the club in Scór and has at least one county title to her credit.

Lily's grandchildren have continued the trend. Seanie's magic was instrumental in securing the 2012 county title victory against Garrycastle and Killian was also a member of that side and has been a key player since and of course was there in 2018 when the senior title was again secured. Killian and Shannon danced their way into the final of Strictly Shamrocks last year and Kim has also represented the club in Scór.

Lily and her late husband Jack enjoyed many a great night in The Clubhouse back in the day. Lily, Jack and members of the family loved the social life associated with The Clubhouse and Lily entertained us many times with her version of The Rose of Castlerea and in more recent years enjoyed the weekly bingo nights.
