Under-14 Football Championship: Mullingar Shamrocks 3-8 Moate All-Whites 3-8.

In this Under-14 championship match played on Sunday morning, Shamrocks thanks to a William O'Reilly penalty goal held an interval lead of a point (1-5 to 1-4). Moate All-Whites added 1-3 without reply on resumption - the goal coming from a great Eoin Doran save but the rebound was finished to the net. This was one of four great saves made by the Shamrocks goalkeeper that were vital in securing the eventual draw. Points from Ryan Kelly (0-2) and Alex Sheerin reduced the deficit but a penalty goal by Aodáin Curran seemed to have secured the championship points for the visitors 3-7 to 1-8. Shamrocks recovered and great work by William O'Reilly and Ryan Kelly created a goal scoring opportunity for Alex Sheerin who smashed the ball to the net. William O'Reilly collected the restart and his speculative shot was dropped into the net by an otherwise very competent All-Whites goalkeeper. There was time for one more Moate attack and with the last kick of the match Ronan Murray, who scored some spectacular long range point, converted the free to equalise.

Under-10 Pat Walsh Memorial Tournament

Mullingar Shamrocks travelled to The Downs on Sunday morning to compete in the Pat Walsh Memorial Tournament. We played matches against Ballivor, Na Fianna, St Loman's and in the final of The Downs Plate narrowly defeated Killucan in a great game of football. Thanks to The Downs for the invitation to take part in what was a superbly organised tournament with the matches taking place as scheduled and on time.
