Junior Football Championship: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-13 Multyfarnham 2-5.

This win against Multyfarnham provided Mullingar Shamrocks with a fifth championship win in a week. When was the last time we managed that feat? On this occasion Shamrocks fielded an eclectic mix that included Tye Adamson returning from year's study spent in Berlin. This was a decent game of football closely fought with both clubs enjoying periods of dominance when it seemed victory was likely but Mullingar Shamrocks finished four points ahead at the final whistle. Ciaran Curley opened the scoring in the first minute when he raced through the Multy defence for a goal. Curley added three more points in the first half, Tye Adamson contributed two and Ross Corroon landed a long range special almost immediately following the Shamrocks goal. Defensive errors allowed Multy in for the two goals that reduced Shamrocks interval lead to the minimum (2-2 to 1-6). Jamie Coffey levelled matters with a breakaway point from the throw in; Mark Fallon added another to send Multy ahead but points by Ciarán Curley (0-3), Ross Corroon (0-2) and Tye Adamson (0-1) sent Shamrocks into the lead. It took Ross a while to get his kicking boot familiarised with the Springfield surroundings, perfectly understandable for a man who has spent the past few weeks in New York, Las Vegas, Hawaii and Brisbane. Multy only added one more point to their total: a good Robbie Boyle save came at the right time and a Tye Adamson point guaranteed the victory. Ciarán Curley was the outstanding player on view and he was the one who delivered the loudest message to the senior management. Shane Colleary's hard grafting was also noteworthy as was the work of Stephen Hassett.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Robbie Boyle; Conor McEntee, Brian Reidy, Eamonn Breslin; Cormac Murphy, James Grogan, Jack Kelly; Pádraic McKenna (Ritchie Daly), Adam McCormack; Stephen Hassett, Tye Adamson (0-4), Ross Corroon (0-3); Peter Collins (Nathan Smyth), Shane Colleary (Paul Aherne), Ciarán Curley (1-6).
