Month's Memory ...

It's hard to believe that a month has passed since Niall Ward blew the final whistle on the historic local derby county final between ourselves and St Loman's and ended our six year spell in the Westmeath senior football wilderness.

In case anybody has forgotten the final score read Mullingar Shamrocks 2-12 St Loman's 1-11.

We used 28 players in the 8 matches played: Eddie Moore, Philly Shaw, Efe Siode, Aaron Purcell, Paddy Joyce, Kieran Gavin, Denis Corroon, Micheál Curley, Dónal O'Donoghue, Killian Daly, Dean Moore, Alan Cashman, Simon Quinn, Brendan O'Reilly, Darren Keena, Jordan Warde, Dillon Matthews, Ciarán Curley, Ross Corroon, Paddy Fagan, Mark Butler, Pearse Corroon, Tye Adamson, Daragh Daly, Billy Flynn, Davy Coyne, Pádraic McKenna, Conor Twomey.

Marc Eivers, James Grogan, Eamonn Breslin, Cormac Murphy, Ryan Blundell, Kenneth O'Reilly and Gary Corroon completed the panel. All 35 played a part in securing what was almost certainly the most important of our TWELVE county senior titles.

The two young fellows on the team, Eddie Moore and Dónal O'Donoghue played every minute of every game.

We scored 8-96 in our eight matches (an average of 1-12/0-15 per game) and conceded 6-75.

Seventeen players scored during the course of the championship (the same as in 2012 over 10 games) with Denis Corroon topping the list with 1-23. Dean Moore scored 1-20, Jordan Warde 4-5, Patrick Fagan 1-9, Simon Quinn and Tye Adamson 0-9 each; Ciarán Curley 1-2, Darren Keena 0-4, Paddy Joyce 0-3, Micheál Curley, Efe Siode, Dónal O'Donoghue and Alan Cashman 0-2 each with Brendan O'Reilly, Eddie Moore, Pádraic McKenna and Daragh Daly notching 0-1 each.
