Kevin (photographed) captained Mullingar Shamrocks to win the 1961 Minor Championship and missed out on the 1964 senior championship as he was serving a suspension for playing soccer. 'Congratulations from Wellington - early morning Monday - just as you surely must be ready for a big night of celebration!'

From Des Newman (via email) who was a member of the 1964 Championship team ... 'Congratulations and well done on winning the Championship . This is an old "Shamrock" giving all concerned a pat on the back for achieving a great win . I was a member of the 64 team which won the championship after a 40 year lapse. My name is Des Newman and we won the minor C'Ship in 58. That seems like a century ago! Will b looking forward to the club C'Ship. Don't go too heavy on celebrations! Regards ...'

Minister Michael Ring sent his congratulations via Paul McGrath ... he read the county final report in the newspapers and remembered his visit to Springfield to open the club's Fitness Centre which was partly funded by grant aid from the Sports Capital Fund during the time when Michael Ring was responsible for sport.
