Best Wishes Lads …
Best of luck to our Minor footballers and their management team tomorrow in the MJS Builds Minor Football Final against Tubberclair in TEG Cusack Park.
Let’s get out and give the lads the support that might swing the game.
The throw in is at 1.15 with Paul McCaughey in charge of the whistle.
Tickets for the game can be purchased online via https://www.universe.com/users/westmeath-gaa-KDL8BC The final at TEG Cusack Park will also be shown live on Iarmhí TV.
This final sees the renewal of one of the great rivalries that has developed in the world of Westmeath under-age football in recent years. Tubberclair had the victory in 2022 in the semi-final by the minimum margin. The sides finished level in the 2023 final after Shamrocks snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat and were comfortable winners in the replay. Tomorrow will decide the boasting rights in a final that is unique in that the same sets of players are available to do battle one more time thanks to the change in age eligibility for 2024.
Mullingar Shamrocks are attempting to win their eighteenth minor final today and win back-to-back titles in the grade for the sixth time. Back-to-back titles were won in 1960 and 1961; 1970 and 1971; 1982 and 1983, 1986 and 1987, and 2002 and 2003.
Bring the cup title back to Springfield lads.
