ACL Div.1:  Mullingar Shamrocks 0-17 Coralstown-Kinnegad 0-8

Shamrocks were full value for this 0-9 victory against Coralstown-Kinnegad on Saturday evening in Springfield. Shamrocks began strongly and with a pair of pointed frees by Seanie Daly and points by Ciaran Curley and Dylan McDermott established a 0-4 to 0-0 lead after six minutes. A superb Philly Shaw save preserved the lead but a series of missed chances ended the scoring run and Shamrocks failed to add to their total over the next ten minutes. The drought was ended by a Seanie Daly point in the sixteenth minute and two points each by Ciarán Curley and an unstoppable Patrick Fagan extended Shamrocks interval total to 0-9. Kinnegad’s lone first-half score, a fine Enda Leonard effort, was scored in the twenty-fifth minute. Shamrocks maintained their dominance in the second-half; a hard earned point by Dylan McDermott was particularly noteworthy as was the contribution of the ageless Gary Corroon who scored 0-3 following his introduction. Darren Keena also scored a neat point buy once again was unfortunate with injury and was forced to retire after damaging his ankle. Overall a satisfactory performance by Shamrocks and a significant improvement on recent efforts with the returning Ciarán Curley and Effie Siode making a considerable difference.

Shamrocks:  Philly Shaw; Aaron Purcell, Eddie Moore, David Coyne; Micheál Curley, Effie Siode, Billy Flynn; Seanie Daly (0-4) and Kieran Gavin (Gary Corroon 0-3); Tye Adamson (Brendan O’Reilly), Patrick Fagan (0-2), Paddy Joyce (0-1) (Pearse Corroon); Ciarán Curley (0-4) [Jimmy Grogan], Dylan McDermott (0-2), Conor Moore (Darren Keena 0-1)[Jordan Warde].
