Under-15 Championship: Coralstown-Kinnegad 2-6 Mullingar Shamrocks 5-13.

Mullingar Shamrocks Under-15 team turned in a very good performance against Coralstown-Kinnegad on Sunday evening and completed their group stage of the championship unbeaten and progress to the quarter final. After a relatively even first half during which the Mullingar forwards were less than clinical in their finishing Shamrocks led by 1-9 to 1-4 at the interval. Points by Ryan Kelly (0-2) and Shane Ormsby sent Shamrocks into an 0-3 to 0-0 lead in the opening minutes but the Kinnegad boys responded with three like scores to draw level. A great Conor Heffernan point (the best point of the evening) with the left boot from distance restored the Shamrocks lead, Gavin Pierce, Heffernan again and Alex Sheerin added three more points as Shamrocks extended their lead (0-7 to 0-4). Kinnegad mounted a spirited recovery and a well worked goal levelled matters. The introduction of William O'Reilly at this stage steadied matters and the centre back went on to dominate his line and made a significant contribution to the victory. A Callum Rigney point was followed almost immediately by a great Gavin Pierce goal create by a superb Ryan Kelly pass. The always dangerous Alex Sheerin pointed to secure the interval 1-9 to 1-4 lead. Alex Sheerin and Callum Rigney added two more points after the restart before Ryan Kelly scored the crucial second goal, a masterpiece of creative football. Fallum Crichton's long and accurate restart was fielded by a superb Shane Ormsby, Shane's quick kick pass sent Gavin Pierce free, Gavin soloed thirty yards through the centre before passing to Ryan Kelly who blasted to the net (2-11 to 1-5); Kelly added a point and then supplied the final pass that sent Conor Heffernan through for a third goal before Ryan added two more goals to complete his night's hat trick. A final point by John Heffernan completed the Shamrocks total before Coralstown-Kinnegad secured their final goal.
