Under-13s win well but Western Gaels too good in minor ...

On Thursday evening we had a good win against The Downs in the Under-13 Championship (3-12 to 2-3). A very strong finish proved crucial in this match as just a single point separated the sides with ten minutes left on the clock. Shamrocks led by 0-9 to 1-0 at half-time but The Downs recovered but 2-2 in the final minutes secured the championship points.

In Garrycastle on Wednesday evening Western Gaels, the Garrycastle-Maryland/Tang combination, finished eight points to the good in the minor championship despite the best efforts of Conor Kelly, Rian Adamson and the goal-scorer Tom Hickey. The Western Gaels system proved to be effective and helped the Gaels to a 1-7 to 1-4 lead and went on to out-score Shamrocks 1-6 to 0-4 in the second half to secure the 2-13 to 1-8 victory.
