Under-14 Girls LGF: Milltown 6-4 Mullingar Shamrocks 4-4 ... great comeback falls just short.

Our 14 girls made the journey to Milltown on Thursday evening to play their second away game in a week. Shamrocks were slow to start and Milltown opened strongly and at half time Milltown led by 6:2 to a single point for Shamrocks.
Coach Peter Thornton made the necessary adjustments and half time and our strengthened defence held the Milltown girls to just two points in the entire second half. Indeed whatever he said at half time should be bottled. Shamrocks came storming back in the second half and scored 4 goals and 3 points unanswered in the last 15 minutes of the match. Unfortunately our come-back came up just short, as we ran out of time to fully make up the deficit from the first half.

All credit to the girls for their hard work and perseverance when all seemed lost. A thrilling match enjoyed by all who attended, including the referee who complimented Shamrocks on our thrilling fight back. Our next match at this grade will be at home on 9 August to Shandonagh.

Final Score: Milltown 6-4 Mullingar Shamrocks 4-4
