CONGRATULATIONS ALL & THANKS!
It has been a proud few days for Mullingar Shamrocks as our fundraiser in aid of Pieta House and Heroes All has exceeded all our expectations. At 10.00 pm on Monday night the €10,000 barrier was passed. This was more than double what we had initially hoped to raise. The original intention was to support the Do It For Dan Trust but as this fund had exceeded its designated target it was decided to support Pieta House and Heroes All.
The Mullingar Shamrocks family and Mullingar Shamrocks families responded in style in a wonderful expression of club community and walked, cycled and ran well in excess of 1500 Km.
Friends and sometimes rivals of Shamrocks also chipped in and lent their support and we are grateful for this. The list of those who donated includes some very high profile names from the world of Westmeath GAA
The Mullingar Shamrocks community is global in extent as donations arrived from New York, Florida, California, Australia and Dubai. Seanie Daly was out early on Sunday morning in Hong Kong doing his 5Km for the cause.
It was great to see so many families and individuals young and old getting involved in the glorious sunshine of Sunday and wearing the club colours. Crucially participants donated generously and at the time of writing over €10,324 has been donated by 331 contributions.
The initiative for the event came from Kieran Gavin and we thank Kieran and Ritchie Daly for their organisational skills. Tye Adamson and Dean Moore boosted the donations at a crucial stage by offering to have their hair bleached provided the €7500 and €8000 barriers was exceeded. Two more nudges on Monday evening sent the fund past the €10,000 mark.
