Seán Mulderry was an Honorary President of Mullingar Shamrocks, an honour bestowed on Seán following a lifetime of distinguished service to the club as both an administrator and player. As a player Seán was associated with all the important breakthrough occasions involving Shamrocks. When Mullingar Shamrocks won the minor county football title for the first time in 1957 Seán was playing; he was a panellist when the club defeated Emper to win its first junior title in 1962 and he was also there in 1964 when the club won the senior title for the first time. Ironically, Fr Tony who played on the Mullingar Shamrocks minor title winning team of 1961 missed out on the county final of 1964 after playing in all the matches prior to the big day. Tony had returned to the seminary, and at the time there was no leave of absence for football matches. Fr Tony officiated at the Official Opening of our AstroTurf facility in 2011.

Seán Mulderry was one of the crop of Mullingar dual players of the era and was a member of the Pearse's team that won the junior hurling title of 1958, a win that attained senior status for the club and was corner-back when Pearse's brought the senior hurling title to Mullingar for the last occasion in 1962 when Raharney were defeated in the final.

Seán was also a talented administrator, generous with his time like all administrators, and served as Chairman of Mullingar Shamrocks in the early 1970s before retiring from the post in 1973. He also served Westmeath GAA and was secretary of the Westmeath Under-Age committee for a number of years in the late 1960s. Seán's sons Tony and Declan played football for Shamrocks at under-age level.

A humble and unassuming gentleman, Seán Mulderry was ever-present in Cusack Park when his beloved Shamrocks, Oliver Plunkett's and Westmeath took the field. Sean will be sadly missed by family, friends and neighbours.
