Last Man Standing ... latest news from the tally-men ...

While tally-men and women all over the country limber up for the big count in the morning our own inspectors of results wasted no time in issuing their findings after the three National League games on Saturday evening. Monaghan’s surprising draw with Dublin had a significant effect on Shamrocks’ Last Man Standing competition. 70 entrants had successfully negotiated the opening two rounds but only 38 competitors are left after just two matches in round 3. Thirty-two competitors were eliminated early in the third count. Three of the youngest entrants, Adam O’ Donoghue, Ted Martin and Jack Shaw fell by the wayside as did a number of Shamrocks’ members including Senior team kit man Ross Brady, vice- Chairman Adrian Keaveney, Davy Cornally, Ray Twomey, Kyle Maguire, and underage players Luke McCabe, Ty Masterson, Susanna Buckley, Tom Daly and Criostóir Ormsby. Siblings Grace and Tom Daly, Paul Keating, Austin Keaveney, club secretary Aidan O’ Donoghue, former Shamrocks’ supremo Ritchie O’ Donoghue and Eamonn Breslin are among those still standing ahead of the remaining round three fixtures.
