LGF Minor Championship: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-9, Loughnavalley 3-10.

In Round 3 of the minor LGF Championship our minor ladies were up against Loughnavalley in Springfield on Sunday. Shamrocks started brightly and opened the scoring through a well taken point from Susanna Buckley. Some good passing, running off the ball and well taken points from Susanna Buckley, Katie Kelly, Máiread Newman and Holly McCormack had the hosts on top for the first 20 minutes or so but opportunities to raise the green flag were missed that could have settled the nerves even more. A Chloe Smullen goal and a missed Loughnavalley penalty just before half time had Shamrocks leading 1-7 to 4 points at half time.

This was definitely a game of two halves as the Shamrocks girls struggled to find the space they found so easy in the first half which led to sloppy and panic passing and some more wayward shooting when they got the chance to shoot. Points by Laura Culkin and Suzanne Buckley is all that could be added to the scoreboard for the home team. The Loughnavalley girls came out a different team in the second half and never let Shamrocks settle on the ball, were far more efficient in front of goals and added 3-6 to their tally to run out winners. The Shamrocks girls worked hard and showed tremendous improvement on their previous championship outing.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Isabelle Clinton, Ruth Keane, Carla Gibney, Eve Hynes: Megan Reid, Máiread Newman (0-2), Jenna Kelly; Susanna Buckley (0-4), Anne Marie O'Reilly; Sarah Geoghegan, Mia Gilligan, Chloe Smullen (1-0); Katie Kelly (0-1), Laura Culkin (0-1), Holly McCormack (0-1), Jasmine Haugh.
