Mullingar Community College students' embrace Recipes for Success

Mullingar Shamrocks as part of its Healthy Club status extended the initiative's Recipe for Success programme to students of Mullingar Community College this week. Thirty-two students from the college took part in the two stage programme: a 'hands on' kitchen-based cookery workshop and each participant later received the Recipes for Success manual filled with tasty, healthy, performance enhancing recipes that are easy to make and specially designed and developed for GAA players.

In two sessions full of fun and learning, the students guided by tutor Eamonn McGowan prepared and cooked a Chicken and Vegetable Stir Fry and a Banana and Berry Smoothie. Both dishes tasted magnificently and this was largely due to the wonderful teaching skills of Eamonn and again we thank Eamonn for making this very worthwhile day possible. Our Healthy Club Officer, Joan Ormsby with her usual enthusiasm for the Healthy Club concept, linked up with John Ganley, a star performer in Mullingar Shamrocks 2012 championship winning team, to organise the project. Mullingar Shamrocks players were well represented in the thirty-two participants.

Mullingar Shamrocks would like to thank the Principal of Mullingar Community College, Mr. Seamus Mohan for his enthusiastic support for the initiative as well as the school's Home Economics teaching staff of Sheila Corcoran and Lorraine Callaghan. The Parents' Council of Mullingar Community College were the primary sponsors of this event with additional support from Buckley's Supervalu and the Mullingar Shamrocks club is grateful for this support.
