Nathan Smith stars in Vienna ...

Dylan McDermott and Tye Adamson aren't the only ones to achieve fame on the international football field this season. Vienna Gaels hosted the Pan-European Gaelic Football Championships on Saturday last with competitions for men's and ladies' teams at Senior, Intermediate and Junior grades. Tom Hanney, the Irish Anmbassador to Austria, was present to view what he described as 'an amazing event'.

Clubs such as Valencia GAA, Azur Gaels, Earls of Leuven, Malmo GAA, Cumann Warszawa and the Slovak Shamrocks descended on Vienna for the annual tournament which involved over 700 players.

One of the teams competing was Frankfurt Sarsfields and the German team went on to win the intermediate title. The inspiration for the win was provided by our own Nathan Smith who scored 1-5 in the final and was awarded the Player of the Tournament

Frankfurt Sarsfields played Den Haag GAA, Vienna Sarsfields and Warszawa B in the group stages of the competition before defeating Earls of Lueven in the semi-final and the hosts Vienna Gaels in the final.
