Under-12 LGF Championship Semi-Final: Tyrellspass 2-08 Mullingar Shamrocks 1-5

Our LGFA Under-12 team were knocked out of the championship on Tuesday evening of last week by a very competitive Tyrrellspass side at the semi-final stage.

Tyrrellspass opened strongly scoring a goal with one of their first attacks. Although Shamrocks had plenty possession, the home team were well marshalled at the back and made it very difficult for the Shamrocks forwards close to goal.

In the second half, Shamrocks showed the tenacity they have displayed all year, and took some lovely scores, and going into the final quarter, there was only a couple of points in it.

Unfortunately Tyrrellspass scored a second goal on the break, having weathered a storm from Shamrocks which gave them a bit of breathing room.

Shamrocks never gave up and continued to play some great football, hitting the woodwork twice in the last few minutes.

But it was not to be, and Tyrrellspass held on to progress to the final.

It was good to see so many girls make their way to Tyrrellspass for the match and to see so many supporters there to cheer them on. A special mention to Emily Pierse who returned to the field of play after a broken foot early this summer and also Aoife Cornally who has also returned after a long injury spell. Great to see them both back!

The management team of Danielle, Owen and Peter want to pay tribute to all of the girls who have performed so well since the beginning of the season. It has been a pleasure to coach such a great group of girls.

Training will continue for another few weeks yet!
