LGF League Div.1 Mullingar Shamrocks 7-15 St Loman's 1-7

Mullingar Shamrocks LGF played their final game in the 2019 Division 1 campaign on a hot sunny Sunday morning in Springfield. Although the result would not significantly affect the final outcome of the League title, a game against local rivals St Loman's was always going to be a big game on the girls' calendar. Shamrocks fielded a strong team with a mix of youth and experience to meet their near neighbours. From the throw in, the home side dominated proceedings, contesting every breaking ball. It wasn’t long before Emma Morris opened the scoring with a point from a free. Shamrocks dominated the scoring in the first half with goals from Carole Finch, Emma Morris, Karen Hegarty and Chloe Swarbrigg. At half time, Shamrocks were ahead on a score line of 4-6 to 0-4. The second half continued with a dominant Shamrocks side again out-scoring the visitors, to finish as winners on a score of 7-15 to 1-7. Best for Shamrocks were Emma Morris who dominated at centre forward and scored 1-4, wing-forward Susanna Buckley who repeatedly ran through the St Loman's defence creating scoring opportunities, Karen Hegarty who scored an impressive 1-7 and Liveta Lazauuskaite who put in a very assured performance in her first game at full back. And it was great to see Chloe Smullen, a superb footballer, back in the Mullingar Shamrocks colours.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Lauren Mc Cormack; Sophie Hegarty, Liveta Lazauuskaite, Lorna Morris; Chloe Swarbrigg (1-0), Tara Fagan, Carla Gibney; Michelle Buckley (Lisa Burke 1-0), Laura Whitelaw; Sarah Geoghegan (Alison Bane) (Chloe Smullen 1-0), Emma Morris1-4, Susanna Buckley 0-2; Karen Hegarty 1-7, Katie Kelly 1-0, Carole Finch 1-2, Orianna Quinn, Ruth Keane, Ciara Keegan and Isabelle Clinton.

Under-16 Football Championship: Inny Shamrocks 4-4 Mullingar Shamrocks 0-13.

Some green shoots on display here as Mullingar Shamrocks Under-16 team turned in their best performance of the season. After trailing by 3-4 to 0-3 at the interval, the boys recovered well and dominated the second half outscoring the Inny boys 0-10 to 1-0 but unfortunately time ran out but overall a good performance from a team short a number of regulars.
